As this episode is released, we’re heading into the winter holidays – a time, as all veterinary professionals know, often brings more than its share of sadness as well as joy.
Lynn Hendrix, DVM, CHPV, joins us this week (along with a very tiny, very sassy kitten called Pluto) to talk about something almost all vet teams do, and how she's helping to teach many of us to see it – and do it – differently. Dr. Hendrix is a certified hospice and palliative veterinarian, new book author, former IAAHPC board member and co-author of the first IAAHPC guidelines, founder/owner of Beloved Pet Mobile Vet, VIN consultant, and founder of the Veterinarian Palliative Medicine group on Facebook. Through her years shepherding families through loss, she’s learned more than a few lessons about, as she calls it, bridging the gaps – between life and death, between what people say and how we can help them, and between bad news and goodbye.
**Since we recorded, Dr. Hendrix’s book, Animal Hospice and Palliative Care for the House Call Veterinarian, has been published and is out in the world! You can buy it here!
